New Tech in the Subaru Outback

Monday, May 1st, 2017

When someone mentions off-roading, the Subaru Outback is often the first thing to come to mind. Its capable all-wheel drive and versatile, outdoorsy spirit has gained it a big group of cult followers. The new 2018 Subaru Outback promises to offer those same performance standards with an upscale twist that includes some cool new technology.

Beyond a new front- and rear-end exterior design, and a quieter cabin with upgraded, sophisticated materials, the 2018 Subaru Outback gets a buffed up media system. Previous models have featured the Starlink Multimedia system, which continues to be the media and information hub of the Outback. However, the standard 6.2-inch screen grows to 6.5 inches, and a new 8-inch screen is now available.

The Starlink system continues to offer standards like smartphone integration and audio streaming. The updated version in the 2018 Subaru Outback also offers new apps, including an eBird app which helps drivers find birdwatching locations—the perfect outdoor twist to a Subaru feature.

The rearview camera, the tire pressure monitoring system, and the Blind Spot Detection/Rear Cross Traffic Alert system have all been updated as well. These are just some of the exciting changes we’re looking forward to in the new 2018 Subaru Outback. To learn more about what’s new in the new model year, give us a call at Hassett Pre-Owned.

General Service Schedule

Tuesday, March 7th, 2017

Keeping your car up and running doesn’t involve much guesswork, unless you lost or don’t have an owner’s manual. Fortunately, there’s a general guide you can follow to keep your car properly serviced. Here’s a general service schedule from us here at Hassett Pre-Owned so you can keep your car running at peak performance.

General Service Schedule - Fluid

Weekly

Drivers would do well to check their windshield washer fluid and engine oil levels weekly, if not more often. Make sure all lights are working, including the dashboard indicator lights. Check tire inflation and condition too.

Three Months/3,000 Miles

Every three months or 3,000 miles, make sure to check the oil, engine air filter, power steering fluid, automatic transmission fluid, and windshield washer fluid. Inspect the battery, cables, belts, hoses, and exhaust as well.

General Service Schedule - Oil

Six Months/6,000 Miles

In addition to the previously listed items, drivers should check their chassis lubrication every six months or 6,000 miles. Make sure to change the oil at this point if you haven’t already.

12 Months/12,000 Miles

Most vehicles are engineered for minimal attention which is why most items can go unchecked for one year or 12,000 miles. Make sure to check the wheel alignments, steering, suspension, coolant, brakes, and wiper blades.

Over caring for your car won’t hurt, but neglecting general service can lead to disaster.

May Yields another Great Month for Subaru

Friday, June 20th, 2014

Subaru is off the charts. The reports are in and the automaker has reached new heights with the best May sales the company has ever seen.

Continuing its 30-month streak of year-over-year growth, Subaru’s monthly sales increased by 11 percent over May of 2013. More than 44,000 vehicles were sold throughout the month, pushing year-to-date sales to 19 percent higher than sales reported during the same period last year.

The popular Forester and Outback models fueled this growth. The Forester sold 14,146 units, while 11,641 Outback vehicles were shipped to new homes. Not only that, but the currently Forester boasts a nearly 51-percent increase in year-to-date sales over last year.

“We are having another great year,” said H. William Cyphers, Subaru’s senior vice president of sales. “Every model line is in demand and our challenge is to keep supply levels high enough to keep the customers coming in our showrooms satisfied.”

With the introduction of the all-new Legacy and Outback models, we at Hassett Auto expect sales will continue to soar throughout the summer and the rest of the year. Now is a great time to join the Subaru family!

Ford Files over 100 Patents for 2015 F-150

Thursday, June 5th, 2014

The 2015 Ford F-150 is such a new and special truck that Ford will soon have to shut down its Dearborn Truck Plant just to retool the plant to produce the aluminum-infused F-150. When you consider the number of new technologies featured on this baby, though, the Truck Plant’s transformation begins to make more sense. For the 2015 F-150, the Blue Oval filed over 100 all-new technology patents, making the new full-size pickup easily the most patented truck in brand history.

It’s obvious that the new truck is “loaded with innovation,” just as program analyst Alana Strager said. “Ford engineers have filed more than 100 new patents for technologies to redefine the light-duty pickup for the next generation.” Obviously, the high-strength, military-grade aluminum frame has gotten the most attention, but there are plenty of other innovations to note as well.

Some of our favorites here at Hassett Auto are the LED spotlights on the truck’s side mirrors, which will help shed light on late night projects and parties, and the redesigned tailgate step (as well as the remote tailgate release feature that allows you to open the tailgate right from the key fob). There’s simply never been a full-size truck quite like this, so check back on the blog early and often for more updates on the F-150’s production.

Ford EcoBoost Sales Hit 500,000 V6 Engines Sold

Monday, May 12th, 2014

Ford has been considered America’s number one choice for truck for the past 37 years, a fact that they have solidified with the sale of their 500,000th 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost-equipped F-150. Merely three years old, the 3.5-liter engine has continued to grow as a favorite among consumers, thanks to its amazing fuel efficiency.

Over the course of the last 38 months, F-150 EcoBoost owners have saved an estimated 56.8 million gallons of gas annually, which is the equivalent of installing 139 wind turbines for energy. With 57% of Ford F-150 light-duty trucks being sold with V6 engines, there’s no denying that V6 engines are quickly becoming the top choice for pickup drivers across the country.

“We expect those numbers to hold for the rest of the year,” said Doug Scott, Ford truck group marketing manager. “It really is amazing when you consider we are doing that with just two V6 engine choices—the 3.5-liter EcoBoost and the 3.5-liter TI-VCT engine. When we come out with the new 2015 F-150, we will offer three different V6 engines, so there is potential for further growth.”

Joining the 3.5-liter EcoBoost and Ti-VCT V6 engines will be a 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine with standard Auto Start-Stop, built in Lima, Ohio. If you’re looking for a pickup that won’t drain your wallet while it’s towing your camper, make sure you stop by Hassett Automotive today for a test drive!

Ford Transit Production Starts in Kansas City; Transit Featured on American Pickers

Thursday, May 8th, 2014

There’s two connected stories about the Ford Transit, Ford’s all-new van designed for commercial use, floating around on the internet this week; one of the stories is a bit more practical and relevant to us at Hassett Auto, but the other story is just so much fun that we’d rather talk about that one.

That “fun” story is how American Pickers, History Channel’s popular show about Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz scouring the nation for priceless antiques, will from now on be featuring a Ford Transit on every episode. Wolfe and Fritz, after searching long and hard for a new car to replace their classic Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, finally settled on the Transit. “The biggest thing is, when the van is full, then we’ve got to come home. I’m interested in real estate on wheels,” Wolfe said in the first episode to feature the Transit, which aired April 30. “There were four of five different vehicles I was looking at, and I just keep coming back to the Ford as the better choice.”

Ford is honoring the Transit’s addition to the American Pickers team with a special scavenger hunt—they’ve hidden 10 scale models of the Transit in antique shops around the country. Find one and you’ll be entered in a contest to win a new Transit. The Transit will be produced at Ford’s Kansas City Assembly Plant, which will be adding 2,000 jobs soon as part of the plant’s expansion.

2015 Ford Mustang Reveals its Secret

Monday, April 28th, 2014

Doing the perfect burnout every time is something that many Mustang owners aspire too. Now, if you get the 2015 Ford Mustang GT, you will be able to impress your friends and warm up your wheels every time you want.

Ford has finally revealed the Mustang’s secret that it hinted at last year, and calls the feature Line Lock. It causes the front brakes to hold firm while releasing the rears, creating the perfect burnout. However, if you’re a purist and prefer to do things the old fashioned way, you can always disable this feature.

It also comes with a bit of a warning. While Line Lock is standard, it is only meant to be used at the drag strip where drivers use it to warm up the wheels. Ford also warns that if you race your Mustang, it will void your warranty.

Check out this video for some sweet Mustang burnout action.

Give us a call at Hassett Automotive and we’ll tell you when you can place your order for the 2015 Ford Mustang GT.

Ford Focus Remains Global Best-Seller; Brand Celebrates with All-New Sedan

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2014

When the Polk new vehicle registration data came out last month, Ford tore open the report to read it as quickly as a kid opening presents on Christmas morning. And, just like those kids, the things they found inside the report were anything but disappointing. The results are in, and, once again, the Ford Focus is the best-selling nameplate across the world.

How did the Blue Oval elect to celebrate this continued achievement? By making an all-new, even more improved version of the Focus, of course! The new Focus, on display right now at the New York International Auto Show, promises to sell even more units than the 1,097,618 sold in 2013.

“It is remarkable to see Focus again lead the industry as the No. 1-selling vehicle nameplate on the planet,” said Jim Farley, Ford executive vice president, Ford Motor Company Global Marketing, Sales and Service and Lincoln. “With the new car, we’ve raised the bar again, showcasing Ford’s commitment to continuous improvement – adding better technology for drivers and a sleeker, more modern exterior across the entire Focus family.”

Check out the world’s best-selling passenger car on display right now, then check with us here at Hassett Auto for more information about the Focus’s release very soon!

F-Series and Fusion Lead Best Ford March Since 2006

Friday, April 18th, 2014

Ford reported its best March retail sales results since 2006, with 244,167 vehicles sold, including 166,030 retail sales, marking a 3 percent increase in both categories.

As always, the F-Series was a key factor in Ford’s industry-leading performance, with 70,940 vehicles sold for a 5 percent increase. This was one of only four times the F-Series topped the 70,000-vehicle sales mark and its highest March sales volume since 2008.

The Ford Fusion also had a strong showing, setting a new all-time monthly record since its introduction in 2005 with 32,963 vehicles sold. This marked a 9 percent increase over March 2013 and a whopping 22 percent increase in western USA, where the Fusion sells like hot cakes.

“March sales turned noticeably higher mid-month and finished strong,” said John Felice, Ford vice president, U.S. marketing, sales and service. “Fusion set an all-time record in March, as overall retail sales in the West continued to expand at the fastest rate in the nation – including California being up 32 percent. F-Series also had a very strong month, as did Lincoln MKZ.”
