Is your car ready for the winter? All-wheel drive is an important feature to consider when shopping for a new vehicle. You may be wondering if it’s even necessary. But when winter comes along and hazardous conditions like slippery roads come your way, having a little extra traction and evenly-distributed power goes a long way.
The Ford Taurus is a great option for an All-Wheel Drive Vehicle

All-wheel drive distributes power to all four wheels individually, so that if one wheel slips, the car still has three wheels to rely on – unlike front- or rear-wheel vehicles, which are unfortunately stuck if the only two moving tires get incapacitated. But there are a lot of cars on the market with all-wheel drive. What are some of the most recommended AWD vehicles?

Ford EcoBoost Sales Hit 500,000 V6 Engines Sold

Monday, May 12th, 2014

Ford has been considered America’s number one choice for truck for the past 37 years, a fact that they have solidified with the sale of their 500,000th 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost-equipped F-150. Merely three years old, the 3.5-liter engine has continued to grow as a favorite among consumers, thanks to its amazing fuel efficiency.

Over the course of the last 38 months, F-150 EcoBoost owners have saved an estimated 56.8 million gallons of gas annually, which is the equivalent of installing 139 wind turbines for energy. With 57% of Ford F-150 light-duty trucks being sold with V6 engines, there’s no denying that V6 engines are quickly becoming the top choice for pickup drivers across the country.

“We expect those numbers to hold for the rest of the year,” said Doug Scott, Ford truck group marketing manager. “It really is amazing when you consider we are doing that with just two V6 engine choices—the 3.5-liter EcoBoost and the 3.5-liter TI-VCT engine. When we come out with the new 2015 F-150, we will offer three different V6 engines, so there is potential for further growth.”

Joining the 3.5-liter EcoBoost and Ti-VCT V6 engines will be a 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine with standard Auto Start-Stop, built in Lima, Ohio. If you’re looking for a pickup that won’t drain your wallet while it’s towing your camper, make sure you stop by Hassett Automotive today for a test drive!

2015 Ford Mustang Reveals its Secret

Monday, April 28th, 2014

Doing the perfect burnout every time is something that many Mustang owners aspire too. Now, if you get the 2015 Ford Mustang GT, you will be able to impress your friends and warm up your wheels every time you want.

Ford has finally revealed the Mustang’s secret that it hinted at last year, and calls the feature Line Lock. It causes the front brakes to hold firm while releasing the rears, creating the perfect burnout. However, if you’re a purist and prefer to do things the old fashioned way, you can always disable this feature.

It also comes with a bit of a warning. While Line Lock is standard, it is only meant to be used at the drag strip where drivers use it to warm up the wheels. Ford also warns that if you race your Mustang, it will void your warranty.

Check out this video for some sweet Mustang burnout action.

Give us a call at Hassett Automotive and we’ll tell you when you can place your order for the 2015 Ford Mustang GT.

Ford Focus Remains Global Best-Seller; Brand Celebrates with All-New Sedan

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2014

When the Polk new vehicle registration data came out last month, Ford tore open the report to read it as quickly as a kid opening presents on Christmas morning. And, just like those kids, the things they found inside the report were anything but disappointing. The results are in, and, once again, the Ford Focus is the best-selling nameplate across the world.

How did the Blue Oval elect to celebrate this continued achievement? By making an all-new, even more improved version of the Focus, of course! The new Focus, on display right now at the New York International Auto Show, promises to sell even more units than the 1,097,618 sold in 2013.

“It is remarkable to see Focus again lead the industry as the No. 1-selling vehicle nameplate on the planet,” said Jim Farley, Ford executive vice president, Ford Motor Company Global Marketing, Sales and Service and Lincoln. “With the new car, we’ve raised the bar again, showcasing Ford’s commitment to continuous improvement – adding better technology for drivers and a sleeker, more modern exterior across the entire Focus family.”

Check out the world’s best-selling passenger car on display right now, then check with us here at Hassett Auto for more information about the Focus’s release very soon!

Ford Revving Up Engine Plant Production in Ohio, Creating Many New Jobs

Wednesday, April 9th, 2014

Whenever your company can pour $500 million dollars into a manufacturing plant, boosting production numbers and also adding many new jobs to the community around the plant, it’s safe to assume it is good times for that company. So that’s exactly what we’re assuming about Ford, as the brand just announced a $500 million expansion to their Lima, Ohio, engine production plant. The Lima plant will hire 300 more workers to help carry the increased production load in Lima.

The money Ford is pouring into the plant will go specifically toward production of the 2.7L EcoBoost engine, which will be put to fuel-efficient use in the 2015 Ford F-150. The Lima plant isn’t the only place in Ohio getting a major upgrade from Ford, either. The Blue Oval also recently announced that they’ll spend $168 million on their Cleveland plant so they can bring production of the 2016 F-650 and F-750 up from Mexico.

The reason Ford keeps pouring money into their production plants, of course, is that their vehicles are more popular than ever. With the world’s best-selling nameplate and America’s best-selling truck series in our inventory, demand is so high that it can be hard to keep up with you guys here at Hassett Automotive. So hurry in today to find the Ford car of your dreams!

Ford Shows Off Fiesta ST on Icy Arctic Landscape

Tuesday, March 25th, 2014

While according to the calendar, spring is now—and finally!—underway, Ford is looking to capitalize on rough winter weather one last time. A training session for the Swedish rallycross team OlsbergsMSE doubled as a way for Ford to show off the special Ford Fiesta ST customized for rallycross racing. The Swedish team took the Fiesta for a spin 200 short miles from the Arctic Circle, preparing for the 2014 Red Bull Global Rallycross Championship.

The test took place in Kall, Sweden, an icy snow-swept landscape perfect for rallycross practice. You can watch the customized Fiesta ST in action in this video; you’ll see it taking out two poor defenseless snowmen in its destructive wake. “Everything is about what you have on the track. Developing the car is one thing, but the most important thing is developing the driver,” OMSE team owner, Andreas Erikkson, says in the clip released by Ford Racing.

You might not be able to race your Ford Fiesta across ice—in fact, you probably wouldn’t want to–but you can come see us at Hassett Automotive to start your Fiesta adventure today!
