SmartLink Retroactive Connectivity for Ford and Lincoln

In recent years, Ford has stayed ahead of the competition when it comes to connectivity, but this wasn’t always the case. Older Ford models, specifically those between 2010 and 2016, lacked several common features, but the automaker is taking steps to rectify the problem. A new SmartLink retroactive connectivity system will soon be available for older Ford and Lincoln vehicles.

The new SmartLink system will provide owners with a range of new features that are available on current models, but weren’t offered at the time their vehicle was purchased. New features include remote engine start, maintenance notifications, and more.

“Offering [SmartLink] through our dealerships is another way to keep us connected with our customers and earn their loyalty,” said Stephen Odell, Ford’s executive vice president of Global Marketing, Sales and Service.

Notably, Ford is upping the ante with its closest competitors by offering a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot capable of connecting to up to eight devices. The connection will be supported through partnerships with Verizon and Delphi.

The tech-savvy move makes Ford the first in the industry to offer retroactive connectivity to customers. Users will be able to schedule service through SmartLink as well.

SmartLink retroactive connectivity will officially launch this summer. Pricing has yet to be announced.

Lincoln Motor Company has partnered with Google in the creation of its MyLincoln Mobile app, and that partnership is yielding some very exciting developments. MyLincoln Mobile users can now start their vehicles using their Android phone. They can also lock and unlock their vehicle and schedule remote starts. (more…)

Ford October Sales Were through the Roof

The highly popular Ford Explorer contributed to Ford’s record sales in October

Ford October sales looked promising as the Fusion, Escape, Explorer, and Transit Connect all posted record sales for the month. Government and commercial sales were up 4% and 18% for Ford, respectively,. Thanks to the power of the MKC, Lincoln sales were also up 25% for the luxury brand’s best October since 2007.

With sales totaling 22,846 vehicles, up 5% over the same month last year, the Ford Fusion experienced its best-ever October sales performance and is on pace to break the 300,000-vehicle mark this year for the first time ever. The Fusion is one of the most sought-after vehicles here at Hassett Automotive.

The Escape managed to sell even more vehicles with 24,919 sold last month, marking a 12% increase and its best-ever October performance as well. The Escape is thriving in a market where the CUV and SUV segments are the fastest growing of all.

With 14,455 vehicles sold, Explorer sales were up 4% for the best October performance since 2004. A final best-ever record performance came from the Transit Connect—4,068 vehicles were sold, up 28%.

The 2015 Lincoln Navigator is here!

Building on the DNA of a legendary brand first introduced in the late 90s, the newly redesigned – and reinvented – 2015 Lincoln Navigator truly takes power, beauty and performance to a stunning new level in the full-sized luxury SUV market.

It’s a complete rethink of what made the Navigator such a driving icon in the first place.
In fact, we’re amazed at how many upgrades and improvements Ford has design engineered into an already segment-leading vehicle.  Here’s just a sampling of what’s new in the 2015:

interiorA newly redesigned exterior with sleek new hood design, cleaner lines and a return of the distinctive split-wing grille completes the front end.  The back end is cleaner and edgier with independent rear suspension and power up/down tailgate.  Both ends feature LED lights as well as high-intensity discharge (HID) adaptive headlamps with LED accents. “Welcome mat” lights below both front doors offer an extra touch of functionality and style.

A newly updated interior with a smartly redesigned instrument panel is the focal point.  The Reserve Package features sumptuously crafted leather and stitching, with a hand-wrapped leather instrument panel and glove box.  Natural grain wood used in paneling and trim is new to the automotive industry, previously only found on yachts.

Completing the Total Customer Experience.

Hassett of Wantagh recently unveiled its newly renovated service department at its Ford Lincoln Subaru dealership on Long Island.

“We set out to enhance and complete the total customer experience,” says Lou Evans, General Sales Manager at Hassett.  “From purchase to worry-free service, we’re known for exceeding customer expectations every step of the way.”

Hassett’s service department has the largest parts inventory on Long Island.  This means the part(s) needed will probably be in stock and located quickly by a newly streamlined inventory system.

Often, the car can be serviced while customers wait, especially for things like oil changes, tire rotations or NY State inspections.

In the meantime, customers are invited to relax in a spacious new lounge that features free wi-fi, computers, cable TV and complimentary beverages.

Service for all makes and models is available, performed by fully certified technicians with a reputation for getting it right the first time.  Customers can also call ahead and make an appointment to secure a complimentary loaner vehicle while their car is being serviced.

Lincoln has been developing a new Youtube Channel called ‘Lincoln Owners” that is especially for owners of new Lincolns (hence the name) who might have some lingering questions about their car. For example, you may have just recently purchased a 2013 Lincoln MKZ, but you’re not 100% sure how to control the ambient lighting. Or maybe you’re not sure how to control the retractable panoramic roof. Whatever the issue, there’s a good chance Lincoln has made a video answering your question.

Even if you have no questions and you feel like you have a good grasp on how to use every feature in your car, we still encourage everyone to at least check it out as you might learn something new.

Have You Heard of the Lincoln Reimagine Project™?

If you haven’t yet heard of it, the Lincoln Reimagine Project is a campaign of sorts that Lincoln initiated in hopes of finding other people and companies that share in Lincoln’s desire to bring fresh designs and ideas to their respective industries.

Lincoln Motor Company sums the project up like this:

Embracing this philosophy, we’ve embarked on a new journey – to celebrate the newly reimagined Lincoln Motor Company by supporting and collaborating with artists, designers and innovators who share our vision for reimagining. Our goal is to shift the cultural landscape and tap into our heritage to create one-of-a-kind collaborations with pioneers in their respective fields.”

In the video below, you’ll meet Mark Lawrence and Elizabeth Emerson of E/L studio. Mark and Elizabeth are architect’s who have done quite a bit of reimagining throughout their careers. In this video in particular, however, they show off one of their more innovative projects in Washington DC.

With the recent introduction of the 2013 MKZ mid-sized sedan, Lincoln began the processing of redefining and reinvigorating its brand in the largest luxury market segment. On January 13, 2013, the venerated automotive manufacturer took the next step when it debuted its first entry into the small luxury utility market at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, MI: the MKC Concept Crossover.
