Ford Shelby Mustang Performance Taken to Next Level

Monday, May 25th, 2015

Ford Mustang ShelbyThe Ford Mustang is an impressive enough vehicle by itself, but the new Ford Shelby Mustang performance is being taken to an even greater level. The Ford Shelby was first created to just that: turn the Mustang up from great sports car to a true road warrior, a supercar in its own right. The new Ford Shelby GT350, with better body design, suspension systems, and more, is literally the best one yet.

The new Shelby Mustang comes with the new MagneRide suspension system, plus the car has an unprecedented level of engineering that makes the body rigid and responsive.

“When we started working on this car, we wanted to build the best possible Mustang for the places we most love to drive – challenging back roads with a variety of corners and elevation changes, and at the track on weekends,” said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president, Global Product Development. “Every change we made to this car was driven by the functional requirements of a powerful, responsive powerplant.”

Come see us at Hassett Automotive to learn more about the new Shelby Mustang. We’ll tell you all about the GT350, with its stiffer chassis and better brakes. Or, if you’re more interested in the normal Mustang, we’d love to show you that model as well.

Mustang’s 50th Year Inspires the Ford ICON50 Campaign

Wednesday, October 15th, 2014

ford mustang icon50Ford has recently posed the question: When’s the last time you tried something new? Surprisingly, 42% of Americans responded that they can’t even remember. In order to combat this loss of adventurousness the Ford ICON50 campaign is being launched. Here at Hassett Automotive, we can’t wait to see what it brings.

So why ICON50? Mustang enthusiasts will recall that it’s the Mustang’s 50th birthday. The Ford ICON50 campaign focuses on rekindling enthusiasm, just like the Mustang has done since 1964. The iconic muscle car has had a profound influence on pop culture, and the crew at Ford doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

Jim Farley, Ford executive VP of Global Marketing, Sales and Service said, “For five decades, Mustang has represented some of the best of American popular culture, inspiring a feeling of freedom, independence and adventure. We are excited to celebrate the iconic Mustang and encourage fans to embrace its spirit of adventure and try new cultural experiences.”

Although the Mustang has been almost completely redesigned since its inception, it still retains that revitalizing effect. With nearly 4X the horsepower of the original, the 3.7-liter V6 on the 2015 model generates 435 horsepower. Don’t worry; handling and suspension are considerably better as well.

2015 Ford Mustang Reveals its Secret

Monday, April 28th, 2014

Doing the perfect burnout every time is something that many Mustang owners aspire too. Now, if you get the 2015 Ford Mustang GT, you will be able to impress your friends and warm up your wheels every time you want.

Ford has finally revealed the Mustang’s secret that it hinted at last year, and calls the feature Line Lock. It causes the front brakes to hold firm while releasing the rears, creating the perfect burnout. However, if you’re a purist and prefer to do things the old fashioned way, you can always disable this feature.

It also comes with a bit of a warning. While Line Lock is standard, it is only meant to be used at the drag strip where drivers use it to warm up the wheels. Ford also warns that if you race your Mustang, it will void your warranty.

Check out this video for some sweet Mustang burnout action.

Give us a call at Hassett Automotive and we’ll tell you when you can place your order for the 2015 Ford Mustang GT.

Behind-the-Scenes: 2015 Ford Mustang Camouflage

Tuesday, December 31st, 2013

We already know that Ford knows quite a bit about cars. But did you know it’s also an expert in camouflage?

When building the next generation of automobiles, especially one as important as the all-new 2015 Mustang, it can be difficult to road test the models without attracting attention. And when it comes to the Mustang, which has now been going strong for 50 years, the attention from auto paparazzi is even greater. According to Ford, it took less than an hour for spy shots to appear online after the Mustang was taken on public roads for the very first time back in June.

But Ford had come prepared. An entire design team worked on the Mustang’s camouflage, creating and putting in place hard plastic, foam, vinyl, and ratchet straps to alter its appearance and mislead spectators. That really got our curiosity-sense tickled here at Hassett Automotive, so we figured we would the video that talks all about the camouflage process:

Ford Unveils All-New Mustang

Tuesday, December 17th, 2013

The Mustang is, without much argument, not only Ford’s most iconic car but also one of the most iconic muscle cars in the United States. As such, releasing an all-new model for the Mustang tends to carry a lot more weight and anticipation than usual.

But Ford has finally lifted the veil, turning the page and opening a new chapter in the life of the all-American pony car. The new Ford Mustang, featuring more performance and technology than ever before, is here.

With a lower, wider stance and reduced roof height, the Mustang has taken on a more aggressive edge as well as a sleeker profile. The cockpit features better craftsmanship than ever with an aviation-inspired design, providing improved ergonomics, tactile switches, and large, clear instrumentation for the driver.

Under the hood, an all-new 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine joins an upgraded V6 and V8, all of which provide the buyer’s choice of balance between raw power and efficiency, ranging between 300 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque and 420 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque.

Other upgrades include improved all-new suspension systems, a reworked automatic transmission, more powerful brakes, and more. Come learn everything about the Mustang at Hassett Automotive.
